With a free account, you can see all of your potential matches, send and receive Likes (we’ll even let you know if you like each other, for free!), and send and receive messages.
We do have some paid features that we think are worth it, but OkCupid is completely usable (including messaging) without paying a dime.
Paid options are great extras that give you more control over who you see or who sees you, so if you're looking to fine-tune your dating experience a bit more, consider these:

Aug 17, 2009 First the largest free dating site PlentyOfFish.com, decided to offer a paid upgrade service 6 months ago (see Story) and now the second largest free dating site, OKCupid is doing the same. Members who upgrade their free membership on OkCupid are called A-List users. As an A-List user you get the following 10 perks.
2. To send and receive a message, you and the receiver do not have to have a paid subscription. The OkCupid app has two levels of paid membership that are jam-packed with amazing features across the board and are very affordable. No one is left out. OkCupid has an open platform that welcomes 20+ sexual orientations plus 12 gender identities.

The reality is OKCupid shows ads on free accounts and also limits what you can do. Free Membership. As a free member of OKCupid you can browse matches, like a match, get notified if a match likes you back, and message a match that you have liked. However, you cannot see who likes you unless you’re a paying member.

Incognito allows you to keep an active profile on OkCupid while being 100% hidden to anyone on the site who you have not already messaged or liked. If you’d like to hide someone who you had messaged you can click “hide” on their profile or “block” on their message. If you’d like to hide someone who you had liked, just block their profile.
Not only will you not appear in Discover to anyone you haven’t liked/messaged, if anyone tries to visit your profile who you haven’t liked/messaged, they’ll get a note that your profile does not exist.
