Although photos (particularly your main profile photo) will have the single biggest impact on your dating success, bios and answers to questions on Bumble should not be ignored. Incomplete bios and one-worded answers to questions can signal lack of effort, creativity or sincerity. Looks are a dime a dozen, substance is what people look for when analyzing Bumble profiles.

What Should I Write In My Bumble Profile: What Is A Good Bumble Profile? Bumble Profile Tips & Ideas

The profile text in the above example is written for a site like Match.com, where longer profiles are the norm. For online dating sites, a good rule of thumb is keep the length of your profile down to about 300 words or less. She doesn’t have time to read a novel, and you want to leave her wanting more.

Having a great bio and prompts may not make up for poor photos, but they can definitely provide an edge over others with similar quality photos and also provide more opportunities to respond to opening lines if you make it easier for them to comment on something you have written. Below you will find Bumble profile examples to provide inspiration, style and framework for you to improve your chances for online dating success.

Why Bumble Bios, Bumble About Me Sections Are Important And Should Not Be Ignored

  • For those who believe online dating, a headline is akin to one’s bio-data to other users. Fortunately, women can explore a wide range of possibilities in this regard. If you want to brainstorm for profile ideas, you can get the right one for your dating profile examples for women on one of the dating sites on the internet.
  • Thoughtful, personal Bumble bios and answers to prompts provide insight into sense of humor, personality, quirkiness, wit, intelligence and confidence. The complement photos that lack background, environments, activities and other good talking points that make for the best photos in a dating profile. Incomplete bios or lazy bios can stir up the.
  • And listen, even if you're totally burned out on dating apps, try to make your bio sound as upbeat as possible, says Jonathan Kirkland, head of marketing and brand for BLK, the largest dating.

Cliche references to Jim looking for his Pam (The Office reference) will make you appear dull and boring (P.S. – liking The Office is not a personality, character trait). If you are serious about meeting quality people, don’t skimp on your questions and answers. Less obvious references, more risks and deeper connections will go a long way to improving your success with dating apps (click here to read up on how to optimize your bio).

An unpopular opinion can stir up good conversation and banter while a bad bio can offset your good photos. Thoughtful, personal Bumble bios and answers to prompts provide insight into sense of humor, personality, quirkiness, wit, intelligence and confidence. The complement photos that lack background, environments, activities and other good talking points that make for the best photos in a dating profile.

Incomplete bios or lazy bios can stir up the wrong first impressions from others, especially when being compared to dozens if not hundreds of other profiles. First impressions are everything so don’t self-sabotage your efforts by ignoring the details that make a profile stand out on Bumble. Every little edge counts when trying to improve the match count and quality on dating apps.

What Should I Put In My Bumble Bio, Profile? What Should I Put About Me On Bumble

Bumble bios are especially important for guys as most women are not comfortable or experienced making the first move and thus having good conversation starters, illustrating fashion sense, providing a glimpse into your lifestyle and revealing your passions and values will lead to more inbound messages from matches.

Bumble bios and about me sections should complement your prompts and add context to photos. Don’t repeat anything that is obvious or implied. Avoid things that happened once in your life or don’t convey passion, humor, creativity, purpose, lifestyle or values. While it’s true photos are the most important, a good bio and show effort over guys and girls who are lazy and do something like list a few words and end it with a link to their Instagram account.

Keep it succint, relevant and avoid any cliche phrases from this bingo card. Bumble prompts are not as great and versatile as the ones on Hinge and so answers tend to be a bit lame or boring as a result. This is all the more reason to give extra thought to this free-form area as you have an opportunity to be unique vs repeat answer from the same prompts everyone else is using.

How Do I Make My Bumble Profile Stand Out: Good, Witty Bumble Dating Profile Bio Examples For Women, Men

Here are some examples of formats and structures to use in your Bumble profile ‘About Me’ section that allow for creativity, randomness, controversy, insight and personality. Remember, Bumble bio character limit is currently at 300 characters, a balance of brevity and insight is key. Don’t repeat anything that is not inferred from your bio unless you can add some context, lightheartedness, humble-bragging etc.

SF>LA>NYC>SF, Spend way too much time thinking about my next/current/most recent meal. Prefer handwritten notes and wired earphones to texts and AirPods. Avid hiker (love Alamere Falls on a weekday without the crowds). Too many unread New Yorkers by my nightstand but learning to embrace audiobooks.

Guilty obsessions, specific hobbies are great at providing comfort in your own skin as knowledge about particular places.

My week ends with John Oliver on Sunday nights and starts off with Ira Glass on Monday mornings. On the hunt for the best espresso martini in the city. Have a slight obsession with colorful dress socks. Prefer big cities and rustic towns to resorts and lazy vacations. Bar seats > booth and table seats.

Prefer shared plates, sitting at the communal tables, people-watching at the bar and catching up on This American Life, Freakonomics podcasts.

This gives a glimpse of your lifestyle, passions and priorities to help to paint a picture with a few short words.

Worst Bumble Profile Examples: Things To Avoid In Your Bumble Bio

As many good bios that exist on Bumble there are also some things you want to be careful of. Filling out your bio a certain way can sabotage your profile or make you seem not so interesting, weird, or creepy.

Too Many Emojis / Being Too Cheeky

Too many emojis can let your maturity level be known to all. It’s fine to use 1-2 emojis to save space but using them with reckless abandonment will likely drive away people who are serious about meeting someone special. A love of avocado and taco emojis is not only cliche but does not offer any insight about who you are. Too many emojis will corner you into one of those people with another generic, cliche dating profile.

Empty Bumble Bios, Lazy Profile Prompts & Answers

For

Redundant bios and incomplete bios signal lack of sincerity, laziness, not that serious, just casually browsing or possibly looking for a hookup. If that is what you want to signal, by all means go for it.

No Bumble Location Listed

This is a rather lazy signal on your end if you don’t list where you live. Relying on GPS location is rather time consuming to figure out if you are local or not. If you are not getting enough likes or matches on dating apps, list where you live as your photos alone and bio may not make it super obvious to others.

Laundry Lists / Empty Adjectives / # Of Countries Visited

Limited character counts on Bumble and other dating apps has led to people trying to maximize their profiles and bios with laundry lists. Listing adjectives, preferences does very little to describe in detail what you like. Simply listing hiking does not provide how often you hike, what kind of hikes you like (urban, nature) or length of hikes (<2 miles, 8 miles or camping/backpacking 15+ miles).

Similarly, stating how many countries you have visited is not only tacky but also super cliche. It’s much more effective to describe where you like to visit, what parts of the world intrigue you or what kind of traveler you are.

Are you a Japanophile? Do you prefer less touristy places of Eastern Europe? Do you spend your international trips exploring architecture? Do you base your trips around certain types of food or events? These are all more interesting and insightful data points.

Friends say I am thoughtful, generous blah blah blah… This generic intro has no weight. People don’t know your friends and friends are unlikely to be brutally honest. People tend to be biased or lack self-awareness when it comes to listing laundry lists of empty adjectives to describe themselves.

Use examples, short stories to communicate who you are and what you are about. Using fake celebrity reviews is also not original i.e. “Beast in the Kitchen” – Gordon Ramsey.

Sounding Negative, Jaded In Your Dating Profile Bio

Swipe left if, do not message me if, no XYZ’s etc. These are all negative languages in a profile. It makes you look bad. You might think you are avoiding false positives, but you are likely driving away more people than intended (automatic left swipe). Instead of listing deal-breakers, talk about what you are seeking, what will prioritize.

Another related and cliche phrase used in profiles is “my kids come first.” Again, this is not only cliche but obvious. If you need to state this then perhaps you are telling the world you are unable to filter such people out easily. It is a major turnoff. If you fill out your profile correctly and list that you have kids (how many and ages) – this is suffice. Using defensive language is a turn-off. Actions speak louder than words, especially in this case.

Inspirational Quotes, Empty Phrases, Cliche Expressions

Listing a show or a quote from a show may show your interests, but it is not a standalone quality. There are plenty of people that watch Game of Thrones and The Office that are people I would never date nor hang out with.

These vague and cliche quotes do absolutely nothing when used in isolation. Ability to copy and paste shows you lack originality and creativity. The only thing worse than repetitive movie and TV quotes are inspirational/motivational quotes. *Vomit*

Should I Put Your Instagram Handle On Bumble? Should You Connect My Instagram To Bumble?

It’s not uncommon for girls to put their IG in their Bumble bio. For some, it’s a matter of being old-fashioned and letting the guy pursue you. For others, it’s anxiety around coming up with a first message to a guy without seeming desperate or vulnerable. For a few, including guys, it’s a matter of attention, validation etc.

The alternative is to connect your Instagram to your Bumble profile. Additional photos can provide more talking points and conversation starters but it can also hurt you if you have unflattering photos. Most people are judged by their worst photo i.e. (most recent, or most accurate). In some cases, it can invite stalkers especially if you have routines or post photos mostly in your neighborhood.

24 photos is a lot of photos to sync to an account so be careful if you have unflattering photos or photos that are old because people will not have timestamps nor hashtags to correctly guess age, location nor context.

Keep In Mind…

With all this said, if you are attractive enough you can get by breaking some, most or all of these rules (particularly true if you are a female but that doesn’t mean you should). If your goal is to attract as many people as possible be vague, be cute, be unoriginal.

If you want to weed out folks, use your bio to show how you spend your time, what you tolerate and what you prioritize. You attract who you are not what you seek so if you manage to attract people that you are not attracted to, review your photos and bio to see what they communicate.

Also, make sure to fill out the fields in your Bumble bio as much as possible. Leaving things blank and people will assume the worst or make the most likely assumption (including that you are not that serious, lack creativity, are dull or are merely looking for a hookup or just seeking attention).

Bumble Love Language Profile Badge

The latest addition to the profile is the Bumble My Love Language Badge. If you are not familiar, the 5 love languages are: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. I think this helps to filter out people who are not good at taking hints and/or being good at fulfilling your love language but with that said I think this is overkill. What’s next? Is Bumble going to ask if you like to be on top or bottom? What about if you like to be spanked?

I am in the camp that some things are better off to be discovered in person like they would if you were meeting people offline, the traditional way.

Bumble Interest Badges – What Are Badges On Bumble?

A lot of people are lazy and don’t fill out a profile or prompts on Bumble so the app is trying to get these super lazy people to fill out generic items with their newest release, Bumble Interest Badges. You should still fill out a bio thoughtfully if you want to improve your chances at success.

Looking for good online dating profiles to copy? I gotchu, boo, with all the online dating profile inspiration and examples you need.

Here are some great, easy-to-copy dating profile examples & profile photo optimization tips for gents and ladies.

Feel free to mix, match, and edit these dating profile examples as needed to suit your situation.

Dating Profile Example # 1: Three things

An essential rule of thumb when creating your dating profile is to think of yourself as a product.

What are the best keywords to describe what “you” are, and what you’re into? (Ex: An engineer? A creative? An athlete/fitness enthusiast?)

Second, what is the “consumer” getting if they “buy”? (Ex: Your contagious enthusiasm for life? A good listener? Interesting conversation about books? Boozy campfires? Raucous club outings?)

These dating profile examples show that you don’t need to list everything there is to know about you.

Your bio is just an ad, so you want to pique interest, and leave the meaty getting-to-know-you stuff for chats and dates.

List three interesting things about you (interests, hobbies, goals) to make people curious and want to swipe right to find out more.

Examples

Astrid, 26
Kava enthusiast. Wannabe climber. Roomba owner.

Jesse, 27
Amateur Lego builder. Terrible cook. Aspiring snowboarder.

Dating Profile Example # 2: “Ask me about…”

Brevity is your friend, friend. A concise one-liner comes across as confident and self assured, like you know what you’re about and have nothing to prove.

Use this short and simple “Ask me about…” template to steer your chat convo toward that one weird interest or fun fact about yourself you’re dying to share.

Examples

Taylor, 27
Ask me about my sleight of hand

Jude, 23
Ask me about my cat’s tricks.

Dating Profile Example # 3: Movie quote

Referencing movies or tv shows is a really great way to engage on a dating app. Even though you’re strangers, you’re already connected through this shared social consciousness, so swipers will automatically feel positively towards you.

Examples

Heather, 22
I’ll have what she’s having
(When Harry Met Sally quote)

Derek, 25
Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
(Ferris Bueller’s Day Off quote)

Dating Profile Example # 4: Greater than/less than

These dating profile examples of the “greater than/less than” template show that you can reveal a lot about your interests and sense of humor without penning a multi-volume autobiography.

Are you always down for a good-natured debate? Rousing convo? This format is a great way to express an unpopular opinion or slightly tease about a topic you know people feel strongly about.

Examples

Claudia, 24
Captain America > Thor

Mark, 26
My Sunday roast > your mom’s Sunday roast

Dating Profile Example # 5: Quirky Interest

Got an unusual interest or passion? Your dating profile is the perfect place to reveal this little-known fact.

Sure, maybe not everyone will love that you keep track of your Minecraft progress in a spreadsheet or secretly take salsa lessons, but the people who do respond are already really going to be picking up what you’re putting down.

There’s no sense in hiding your quirkiness or nerdom. You may as well focus on attracting those who will jive with you than going for worldwide mass appeal.

My labelmaker is the single best purchase of my 20s so far.

Rory, 29
